Common methods of cable terminations such as crimping or clamping the outer cable braids to the connector body does not capture all the of the braid, which leads to intermittent electrical performance and low connector (retention) pull strength. With the Lab-Flex® solder sleeve, both the inner and outer braid are directly soldered 360 degrees around the sleeve. This solder sleeve provides the best braid to connector termination assuring superior electrical performance and the highest connector (retention) pull strength.   • Lab-Flex® S Family

    The Lab-Flex® S family is a stranded center conductor version of our popular Lab-Flex® series. They offer high flexure rates and durability over the solid center conductor designs. They are especially well-suited for test set-ups as well as Radar and Antenna systems requiring flexible coaxial interconnects that are being subjected to constant motion.  These assemblies are offered with stainless steel connectors and have the strongest cable to connector termination of all cable types.     Lab-Flex® AF assemblies are qualified to meet the harsh environments found in commercial and military aircraft, as well as shipboard and ground applications. Qualified to MIL-T-81490 and additional requirements found in MIL-STD-810, Lab-Flex® AF cable assemblies are constructed with a redundant water sealing system,  and have be tested and proven hermetically sealed to 1 x 10-5cm3/s. The cables also incorporate an ePTFE insulator material for the lowest loss and the outer jackets are covered with a Nomex®material for high abrasion resistance.     Extended Boots

    Our extended booting system protects the cable from kinking at the cable-to-connector termination area. This feature uses layers of different lengths and various types of shrink tubing which will distribute the force applied to the cable-to-connector termination over a 3 to 5 inch (7 to 13cm) length of cable, depending on cable diameter and length of the assembly. This method of strain relief is available on all flexible cable assemblies manufactured by Florida RF Labs.
  • The T Series of cable assemblies combines a silver plated, copper clad steel center conductor, the crush resistance of a high density dielectric, the strength of over-sized braids, with the reliability of a direct solder termination that produces a durable, "budget sensitive" premier test cable.

    Smiths Connectors offers rugged connectors such as MIL-DTL-38999 to house fiber optic contacts in size 5 and 12 expanded beam, size 16 butt-joint, DIN style and ARINC 801 termini. These technologies are capable of supporting wide bandwidth applications. All fiber optic connectors and contacts are offered fully terminated and tested ensuring signal integrity for ruggedized application environments. When specifying these rugged connectors, Smiths Connectors also offers a complete line of fiber optic connectors to terminate to the other end of the cables. These include Ruggedized Single Channel (RSC), FC, ST, LC Duplex/Simplex, MTP, MT-RJ, and Ruggedized SC connectors.  Please consult factory for cabling options.

    High impedance D-Sub connectors are designed to ground the outer shield of a twinax or quadrax contact directly to the shell of the connector. A multi-finger ground spring fixed around the shell provides a multi-point contact engagement that affords superior EMI shielding. The end result is an extremely low contact resistance when measured from the contact outer body to the connector flange, ensuring minimal RF noise and high durability of up to 1,000 mating cycles. Our D-Sub meets and surpasses all requirements of MIL-STD-202 for shock and vibration, and is offered with 100 ohm quadrax and/or differential pair twinax contacts. To ensure that the correct high speed connectors are mated to address specific wiring requirements and keying combinations, a keyed jack post was incorporated into the design. The six-positioned keyed jack post allows for 36 possible keying combinations assuring that the correct high speed rugged D-sub plug is mated to the correct high speed receptacle.

    Coaxial contacts provide flexibility in the design of high frequency RF and micro-wave applications. The contacts, including sizes 5, 8, 9, 12 and 16 and have the same outline dimensions as traditional power contacts that fit  various insert arrangements for d-sub, circular, and rack and panel connectors. The coaxial cable type contacts are designed for low-loss concentric 50 and 75 Ohm cable types. An innovative design of coax contacts opens a whole new world of design options. Smiths Connectors P1 connector housing contains 21 position true differential pair blind mate contacts allowing board designers to carry high density differential pair signals from the LRU via motherboard to daughter-card plug in  modules with a single connector P1 type housing. This allows for the use of standard VME bus architecture cages for high speed fibre channel connection.

    The PZC Series is a ruggedized and EMI shielded rectangular connector specifically developed for severe environments such as military applications (avionics, missiles, etc.). PZC Connectors offer a quick and easy connection/disconnection and accept, due to it floating mounting design, a misalignment up to 2mm during blind mating.     Multipin coax connectors (MDCX) have low VSWR of 1.25:1 up to 10 GHz (max mated pair). Each spring loaded contact has a maximum diameter of 0.125" fitted into low profile metalized housing. Spring loaded High Frequency Micro-D Coax Connectors (MDHC) offer low VSWR up to 40 GHz (typ). These connectors have a constant 50 ohm airline impedance interface and are 30% smaller than our SCX coaxial connectors. Each coax contact has a maximum overall diameter of Ø.133" fitted into a low-profile metalized or plastic housing. MDHC coaxial contacts are a drop in alternative to Smiths Connectors MDCX RF contacts with increased frequency range from 10 GHz to 40 GHz. MDCX and MDHC coaxial contacts are compact in size allowing multiple high density connections in a Micro-D style shell for applications where space and weight savings are important.     Smiths Connectors KVPX connector is a shielded, high-density, high-speed, modular interconnect system optimized for differential pair architectures on a 1.8mm x 1.35mm grid. The waferized daughter-card assembly also provides single-ended and power wafer options. The backplane modules are available in 8 and 16 row increments on a 1.8mm x 1.8mm grid, with user-configurable keying and integrated stainless steel guide pin/keys. The KVPX connector platform offers the ability to scale from 80 Mbps to over 10 Gbps while retaining the same Vita 46 backplane slot pitch at 20.3mm to 25.4mm.     The Hypermod Series is a heavy duty modular rectangular connector designed to meet the growing requirements of high-speed signal interconnections in railway applications, such as the communication networks made available to passengers within coaches. The Hypermod connector series can be equipped with modular inserts offering a combination of fibre optics, high speed Ethernet twinax or quadrax, power and signal contacts. The shielding effectiveness meets the exacting EMC requirements of railway environments. Its RoHS IP67 shock-proof aluminum shell guarantees an excellent resistance to the high levels of shocks and vibrations on-board rail vehicles. The Hypermod connectors are available with various housing and hoods, with single or double locking systems and float rack and panel frame can be on request. The connectors conform to DIN 43652 standards and approved NF F61-030 French railways approved.
