    INNOVATIVE MODULAR DESIGN The EasyPower Series is part of the Transformer range, a comprehensive series of high density, modular connectors for all on-board power applications within the rail market. The Transformer’s modularity enables customers to design their own solution by supplying the elementary components of the whole connector. It employs a unique do-it-yourself system based on the building block principle. The connector is suitable for any applications requiring the transmission of very high currents such as power distribution, intercoaches and bogies. HIGH RELIABILITY The EasyPower Series is available in 1 to 4 pole versions, supporting up to 700A per pole and a voltage rating of 3600V. The EasyPower connectors can be supplied in a straight version, that allows for the easy mounting on the roof or under the car’s floor. A straight version with a shunt is also available to facilitate mounting between two cars. The connector uses the Smiths Connectors’ High Power Contact (HPC) technology in aluminum or copper that allows for more contact points to reduce overheating and to achieve low mating force during the connection. In addition, three contact sizes only are covering the cross section cables from 25mm² to 240mm², with consequent reduction of supply chain and cabling costs. IDEAL FOR RAIL INDUSTRY The EasyPower Series range is compliant with the main railway standards: NF F 61-030, EN 50647 and dEN 60373. The connectors also conform to EN 45545 fire and smoke standards and are made of plastic materials following NF F 101/102.

In addition, one contact size fits with the cross section cables from 25mm² to 50mm², with consequent reduction of supply chain and cabling costs. Filtered d-sub connectors are designed to meet or exceed all applicable requirements of each series and are intermateable and interchangeable with standard non-filter connectors.  Non-Filter applications can easily be upgraded to EMI/Transient protection without modification to the system through Smiths Connectors In-Line filter adapters. The adapters are designed to be installed between the existing plug and receptacle without having to re-wire or disassemble the system.

    The Smiths Connectors H series is high density rectangular modular solution offering a combination of signal, power and coaxial contacts. The connector is ideal for test applications for the Automotive, Railway, Defense, Space & Industrial markets. To meet the specific requirements of harsh environments, the H connector series is equipped with an EMI shielded housing shell featuring with both centered and 1/1 turn jackscrew extractor and guiding and coding functions to ensure reliable mating. The H connector range benefits from a high contact density up to 1000 0.6mm removable contacts. Using the Hypertac® hyperboloid contact technology, the solution ensures high resistance to shock and vibration, while allowing up to 15000 mating cycles and high current rating up to 50A.

    The Smiths Connectors GS series is D-Sub rectangular I/O connector designed to meet the requirements of the Railway, Aerospace & Industry markets.     The C160 connector is based on Tortac© technology, the evolution of Hypertac hyperboloid contact design dedicated to high density connectors. The C160 connector features a smaller pitch allowing contact density of 60 ways per cm2, thus doubling the original standard offered by Hypertac and ensuring improved performance in high frequency environments. Aligning functionality with the specific custom requirements of Radar applications, the new 160 way connector integrates Tortac sockets with a diameter of 0.5 mm to achieve 1.27 mm pitch, square grid whilst maintaining the acclaimed standard of technicality offered by Hypertac contacts. The C160 connector is designed to protect the electrical interface and provides resistance to harsh environmental conditions including salt spray, shock and vibration.

    Smiths Connectors KVPX connector is a shielded, high-density, high-speed, modular interconnect system optimized for differential pair architectures on a 1.8mm x 1.35mm grid. The waferized daughter-card assembly also provides single-ended and power wafer options. The backplane modules are available in 8 and 16 row increments on a 1.8mm x 1.8mm grid, with user-configurable keying and integrated stainless steel guide pin/keys. The KVPX connector platform offers the ability to scale from 80 Mbps to over 10 Gbps while retaining the same Vita 46 backplane slot pitch at 20.3mm to 25.4mm. Through the use of the proven 0.40mm Hypertac® hyperboloid contact, KVPX connectors provide immunity to shock and vibration fretting, numerous linear paths of contact, and a self-cleaning wipe action that results in consistently better signal integrity for high reliability applications across a wide range of industries. The Hypertac contact system offers low insertion and extraction forces, low contact resistance, as well as industry leading mating cycles.     Smiths Connectors cPCI 2mm connector system is based on the legendary Hypertac® contact technology, which is known for its’ immunity to shock and vibration fretting. Tested to military standards, the cPCI 2mm connector delivers the highest performance in a ruggedized CompactPCI format for all mission critical applications such as military land systems, shipboard, and aerospace. Configured on a 2mm center-line with six rows, this connector uses 0.4mm Hypertac contacts that feature less than eight milliohms of contact resistance and a current rating of 1.0A. Our optimized contact lead traces provide superior performance in high-speed signal applications, and these connectors are compatible with standard reflow soldering processes. The cPCI 2mm connector is available in both keyed and unkeyed configurations. Modular in design, the connector is variable in length and can be changed in increments of five contacts.     Quadrax is a system where four conductors are located within a single conducting enclosure. The connection to two separate twinax cables is accomplished without disturbing the differential or signal-to-shield impedances values. A complete series of connectors are available utilizing the Quadsplitter technology with MIL-DTL-38999 Series III connector types available in shell size 11 and shell size 25 housings. Designed to ground the outer shield of a twinax or quadrax contact directly to the shell of the connector. In-Line Quadsplitter offers another solution for extending the distance that High Speed signals can be sent over a Quadrax architecture. We can combine the signal integrity of Twinax cables and the connection density of Quadrax contacts, by incorporating two 26 AWG Twinax cables into a standard Size 8 Quadrax contact. The resulting cable assembly is about the same size and weight as a 24 AWG Quadrax cable assembly and offers the same flexibility and ease of use. The In-Line Quadsplitter can be used alone or in conjunction with the In-Line Equalizer. Many customers prefer the connection density and ease of use of Quadrax cables and connectors.

Smiths Connectors offer reverse gender Quadrax contacts to provide a more robust assembly for harsh environment applications. This alternative configuration places the stronger and larger diameter inner socket contacts within the more exposed Quadrax pin contact insulator. The more fragile inner pin contacts are then placed within the Quadrax socket contact insulator minimizing the potential of alignment damage due to mishandling on both sides. With this arrangement, Smiths Connectors offer the most robust high speed Quadrax contacts available today.

    Micro-D Twinax Connectors (MDTX) offer twinax blindmate assemblies fitted into a low-profile metalized Micro-D style shell. This series allows for modularity of PCB routing of high speed signaling capable of 100 Ohm differential pair matched impedance for IEEE 1394b firewire and gigabit Ethernet applications in a size 10 twinax contact. These connectors allow for maximum space utilization, ultra miniature size, high vibration capability and are extremely light weight and modular with true signal integrity. The NDL Micro Twinax Series is offered in threaded and quick disconnect styles and are 25% smaller in diameter than SMA coaxial connectors. The quick disconnect version has a diameter of .250” max and the threaded version has .250” Hex coupling nut.
