A sensor’s construction has a large impact on its thermal time response, resistance to corrosive media and other key performance characteristics. By manufacturing the bare elements all the way through final assembly, Minco has the flexibility to design high performing temperature sensors, unique to each application. Temperature probes come in all shapes, sizes, and configurations. Below are a few options:

Stator

Flat, laminated “stick” RTDs fit in slots between stator windings to monitor temperature rise and prevent overheating. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) recognizes embedded detectors as a standard protection for motor and generator insulation. Unlike on-off devices, RTDs provide continuous sensing for earlier warning without unnecessary trip outs. Minco stator RTDs meet the specification of ANSI C50.10-1990, general requirements for synchronous motors. Six sensors are recommended for each motor, two per phase. Locating the sensors near the hottest point of the windings will provide the best performance.

Surface Sensor
Minco's Thermal-Ribbon^TM sensors can be installed virtually anywhere for accurate temperature sensing and fast response in aerospace, medical, and industrial devices. These thin, flexible RTDs and thermocouples are surface or pressure sensitive mounted to be non-invasive and track rapidly changing conditions in both point and averaging configurations. Our Thermal-Ribbon™ are made with polyimide, silicone rubber, Mylar™, and other high performing insulation and can be waterproof constructed for continuous immersion.
